Mile 62.4:

Promotional materials (circa 1910) for the Potomac Refining Company show a "Refinery Main Building" with a canal landing near the present-day Huckleberry Hill campsite, and describe extensive manganese and iron ore deposits, along with marble and limestone. Proximity to the canal and to the B&O (via a "tramway" over to West Virginia side) were cited as major advantages to the operation. This map also shows a refinery building and canal dock further up the canal (see note to mile 65.2).
